Lol... I can't help but get a "rofl" reaction at this comment. Imagine what parts the DM\GF machines could have used if it did cost 200m yen?

(imagining a cinema sized screen with about 20 surround sound huge ass speakers plus an acoustic set with as many cymbals, tomtoms, cowbells as Portnoy's set inside a 20 sq m. wide and 50 ft high transparent box like structure that serves as the stage plus concert hall and 100 comfortable, expensive sofas for the audience with each seat having a personal butler [lol] serving appetizers to the audience. Not to mention you can control the temperature inside the box thing    and I'm not even starting with GF yet hahah). Better ideas anyone???

Apparently the hihat pedal does not follow the functions the hihat pedal in actual drum sets which changes the hihats from open to close. Basically the hihat pedal is there so that they can allocate some sounds to it - you step on the hihat pedal in XG and it makes a sound, that's all to it. The creator of DTXMania was pretty disappointed with that.

Obviously he has no intention to release the XG version of DTXMania (I think he probably did it as a form of mockery). It took him just 4 hours to modify DTXMania070 to DTXManiaXG.

More info from the creator of DTXMania (his screen name is "FROM") who play-tested XG. I'm not going to translate everything he says, just the important parts.

Occupied floor space of Drummania XG > Occupied floor space of DDR

FROM wrote:

There's a gimmick in the game where the floor vibrates slightly as you play (FROM didn't notice it until the staff there mentioned it)

He finds the new arrangement of the pads to be much better than the electronic drumset (probably talking about Yamaha DTXPlorer). The height difference between the individual pads is enough to prevent one from hitting his own hands during cross-handed play. However, all the pads are now at a lower position and there is not much distance between the snare pad and the hihat pedal, to the point where the base of his stick will be hitting on his thigh when he is hitting on the snare drum.

Left cymbal is too far from the rest of the pads. It's difficult to hit the left cymbal if you are sitting some distance away. Too close up and your sticks will be hitting on your legs as mentioned above, as the pads are very low.

On the screen, the snare and high tom lanes are now flushed side by side but on the actual arrangement, the high tom is a lot more on the right and thus, the difference is a bit disconcerting.

Hihat pedal has nothing to do with open and closed hihat simulation.

With very narrow lanes and small note chips, he finds the XG screen to be remarkably similar to those from Pop'n Music (which also has 9 lanes btw).

Left cymbal takes only cymbal sounds, while the right cymbal still retains the function of being both rides and cymbals.

Hitting on a chip will cause a slight shaking animation on the lane. Every 100 combo you reach will cause all the lanes to shake. The animation does not show up on Dark.

All the video and animations of songs are in full screen as background. However since the lanes are non-transparent and takes up almost the whole screen, it's almost as good as not having them. The situation is much better for Guitarfreaks XG.

With feedback like these, we might be able to see improvements of some sort by the time the real thing comes out.

For the last time? I never heard that, but it sounds logical, kind of. All I wanted is someone who reads jp check that page about what's written there regarding: Pedal, Through the Fire and Flames, double bass. (That's the words I can read, haha). If it isn't used as bass there, it probably won't at all? Although stuff could still change, of course.
Since now it's clear that it's only used as a pedal to produce sounds when pressed, it's much likely to it being bass, too, though. So whatever.

Pedal for GF, huh, one page before there was info pasted from bemaniwiki:

No idea what an "effector" is. So I don't really know what to think about the foot pedal line. But on the image it looks pretty obvious? It doesn't make sense anyways.

I completely missed that line and I never noticed it in the picture until after I posted. Never thought they'd go through with something like that.

An effector is a device that alters the signal from an electrical instrument (or voice in the case of microphones) for some sort of aesthetic value, like distortion or chorus, two of the most popular choices today. They're usually in the form of separate pedals or built into a pedalboard that you can just tap with your feet rather than using a knob or toggle (similar to what is on the RB guitar; they actually do exist like that but most of the time are cheap and are usually more vibrant and reliable when done through an aftermarket device). Really, this is something that should've been included with the original GF when they decided to do effects in the first place.

My question is how the pedal will work, if it will just be something you tap to change the current effect or if you can change the actual effect with buttons and use the pedal to control when it's active or not or to what degree (a wah-wah effect is a perfect example of a pedal effect that works it's magic in it's transition from effect-off to effect-on rather than by just being on). I'm very much doubting it will be something of the latter's nature but I can still hope, after all.

[speculation]
As for hi-hat pedal, I have thought that it won't work as open/close.. instead as a hi-hat accent (sound produced when the hi-hat is opened then closed)
Neway, I haven't played any real drums, so it is only my opinion from what I know about MIDI drums
Still, it should be function as double-bass too....

Why did they made it 5 buttons on GF? I bet I would later see a comment in youtube saying, "GUITAR FREAKS COPIED GUITAR HERO, COPY CATS"
